I've actually been interested in hearing the new Smashing Pumkins album when it comes out.
But ever increasingly weird Billy Corgan and Co, have made the decision to release so many different versions of the same album. Kissing up to Best Buy, iTunes and Target, each one of those stores will get different versions of the album.
The band, and Record Company can imagine that "True Fans" (which I am not) would have to get all of them in order to have all of the tracks legit.
I hope no one buys it, and steals it. Pitchfork really took it to them, rightfully so.
I can't think of a more deliberate example of a band and record company trying to milk their fan base, except for when Pearl Jam released 72 live albums over two years.
