I am a Free Man

On a classmate's shoot a couple of months ago, I ended up driving the 15-passenger van from NYC to NJ daily. One terrible morning, we got lost, and I ended up getting a ticket for improper passing (it's a long story, and honestly, it's just a really dumb ticket). So I gave it to her producer to take care of, and thought nothing of it.
Long story short, the ticket never got paid and there was a WARRANT FOR MY ARREST! So we had to go this morning to the thriving metropolis of Harrison, NJ to pay my debt to society. With my hat in my hand, I threw myself at the mercy of the courts and plead guilty. They had mercy.

Well it wasn't that dramatic. My friend paid my BAIL and that money is used towards the ticket. It will also add 4 points to my license, but I don't think it applies to me since my license is from Canada. Either way, I feel like I have a new lease on life.

Dumb Luck

Professional sports is one arena where people are constantly performing rituals. Whether it's growing the 'playoff beard' or not stepping on the baseline, it's become part of the game. It's completely ridiculous though.

The Times has a great piece on the role of magic and rituals in our everyday lives.

Perhaps the most interesting section is the one concerning religion and when it is first exposed to children:

“The point at which the culture withdraws support for belief in Santa and the Tooth Fairy is about the same time it introduces children to prayer” .

If Subatomicfilms Picked the Oscars

After a bit of R&R this weekend in the mighty PA, we're back at work. Since the Oscar nods come out tomorrow, we here at Subatomicfilms feels it is high time we made our wishes be known. Real Life "Human Nature"

There is news out of Cambodia that a "'Half-animal' Woman" has been discovered in the wilds of the jungle. It reminds me of the premise of Michel Gondry & Charlie Kaufman's collaboration on Human Nature, their least successful venture.

Although there are several moral questions that arise out of this situation (the woman in Cambodia, not the movie), I think that a lot of information can be gleaned about society and the human condition.

Subatomic is back, baybee! We wrapped the final shoot yesterday so now I have more time for my leisurely activities. Get ready for more snob stuff, and more reports of post-production. You know you love it.
