Killer of Sheep lives on

There has been a lot of hoopla surrounding the release of Charles Burnett's UCLA MFA Thesis film from the late 70's The Killer of Sheep. It's been held over for weeks at the IFC. Gushing reviews from all major media outlets.

The office went and saw it a few weeks ago, and we were kinda disappointed. Perhaps it's a milestone for it's time period, but quite frankly, I just don't get it.

Nevertheless, the story of the films journey is incredibly interesting and quite inspiring. Perhaps quite rare is the student film that can get released theatrically 30 years after it was made.

Clearly, there is something in it that strikes a chord with people, just not with me.
